Who we are?
Pondicherry Dyslexia Association (ESTD:1998), The Progressive Learning School is a non – profit, non religious, non – sectarian, non – discriminatory social organization committed to holistic development of special children with learning disabilities. As there is a growing need in this field of education, creating awareness, promoting early identification ( 8 to 10 yrs) and assessment of children provides right learning inputs to children across ability levels. With the intention of inclusive education to all children irrespective of their impairments, cast, creed, financial backdrop etc, we thrive for grooming their overall personality and betterment of academics.

We believe that a lag in some specific skills is what is hindering the student's progress in mainstream education. Therefore, we facilitate the acquisition of basic skills to cope with school education successfully.

Each and every special needs student has a challenge in Central Executive Functioning and a lag in acquiring Specific Scholastic Skills is termed as a Specific learning difficulty. It can be either developmental in nature or can be acquired due to lack of Foundational literacy which attributes to various psychological reasons. Disorder or Delay in the acquisition of age-appropriate Subjects content learning interferes with an individual's ability to store and process information, thereby creating a disparity between his/her ability in Academic performance. This can affect his/her ability to read, write, speak, compute, spatial orientation, directions, sequencing, short term memory, and perceptions.

Therefore we at Bridges create a space as well as an environment where the dyslexic students, Children affected with Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, slow learners, or under Achievers are given enough stimulation to match up the performance at par with normal children according to his/her ability keeping their academic progress in mind by providing Vocational training and empowering their self-sustainability and future livelihood.

What do we do?
We at PDA sincerely and strongly believe that we can bring about a change in every student's academics and behavioral pattern by implementation of differential methods of teaching. We are backed up and motivated by the track records of our Founder who has successfully manifested more than 6000 students in her career of 27 years.

Inclusive Education - Valuing everyone
* We Offer internship for B.Ed and Psychology graduates and post graduates in special Education.
* We extend our services by offering valid certificate courses on specific learning disability for primary, middle school and Higher secondary Teachers.
* We offer parent facilitator course to manage differential learners at Home, especially mothers to handle home work, improve math skills, comprehensive abilities and Behavior Modification Techniques.

Vision & Mission :
Pondicherry Dyslexia Association operates with the vision of "INCLUSIVE EDUCATION". We strongly believe there could be no barriers or disparities in any form including cast, creed, colour, religion, rich, poor, physically challenged or Dyslexic! when it comes to education.

PDA continues to thrive in accomplishing its visions through a strong mission of extending education to the children of this society with differential needs. We target the students with severe Dyslexia Moderate, and mild Mental intellectual disability as they are usually out spelled in most institutions due to various reasons.

OUR ACCOMPOLISHMENTS :
* Pondicherry Dyslexia Association ( Since 1998 ) is the Pioneer Concept learning Vidyalaya in Pondicherry, oriented towards children with specific learning difficulties, Dyslexia and other Cognitive impairments like dyscalculia, dyspraxia, attention deficit hyperactive disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
* The Founder and Correspondent of the Concept Learning Vidyalaya
* Dr.BhuvanaVasudevan is an Assessor/Educational Psychologist/Therapist in diagnosing students level in scholastic skills and the co-morbid factors associated with the challenges in Education. Ours is the pioneer school which had been liaisoned with the department to offer Scribe facilities and extend examination concessions to dyslexic students in High school & Hr. Sec level
* Since 1998, more than 4500 students have been remediated into the effective mainstream education.
* Providing academic support with special Education for dyslexic students in X and XII std Board exams, since the inception of the School.
* Platform for all the struggled children to learn and write effectively without mistakes.
* Inclusive education system to accommodate children in lower income groups and non-performers.
* The Undersigned have been associated as a Resource person, provided Educational services about Dyslexia Awareness training programme organized by Government of Puducherry since 2000, for STC, DIET & SSA, Effectively trained 1450 Govt school principals and teachers to apply alternate learning methods in the classrooms and identification of dyslexic children to improve their academics.
* Resource person for Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to conduct awareness programme about Dyslexia for strengthening their scholastic skills to improve the under achievers and dyslexic students.
* Periodically conduct workshops for psychology and B.ED special education students in NIEPMED, Tamilnadu.
* Conducted Subject content Awareness programme for Nursing Students & psychology students of Pondicherry Government colleges & Jipmer students.
* Continues to conduct seminars on Inclusive Education to Govt. & private school teachers in order to spread awareness among the teaching community.
* We also train students to appear through NIOS scheme of education, to complete their schooling for struggled readers with cognitive impairment to support them with self employment & we are supporting PADASHALA students with free Education.
* Offer Educational Counselling services at Government and private schools for children with differential needs and provide academic support to students and parents.
* We have adopted 100 orphan & Semi orphan children ranging from 6 years to 18 years, providing them free Education, Food & other basic Amenities, support continue till their completion of College Education & self Employment.
* We are Spreading awareness about the Educational challenges in rural areas for illiterate Parents & Schools functioning in rural areas, without any basic support to attain Academic Skills.
